Transparency, texture, and mixed media techniques will add vibrancy to your acrylic paintings. Flat, plasticy finishes will be at thing of the past. I will share my joyful creative process and get you excited to experiment with some new approaches to your work.

Eastside Culture Crawl

Over 800 people braved the building-under-construction and two flights of stairs to visit my temporary third-floor studio. This was the 19th year for this event and my sixth year participating.

Thanks to the over 800 people who visited my studio at this year's Crawl! Works in progress elicited great conversation, and a name-this-painting generated $130 in prizes towards the purchase of art!

This was my fourth year supporting The Lookout Society by painting live at the gala. The painting was auctioned off at the end of the event. I took the opportunity to try something quite different for me, and I loved the result!

Free Demo: Watercolors Loose and Free

Another fun, interactive session exploring watercolors and mixed media. We looked at the verneable tradition of plein air sketching with ink and watercolor, then moved on to playful creative process and modern ways to incorporate mixed media and watercolor. We also looked at ways of presenting watercolors that don't require framing behind glass.

Over 700 people visited my studio during this year's Crawl. The neighbourhood is booming with new studios (20 within a block) and even a cool new french bistro!

These are Not Your Grandmother's Watercolors

This free demo was a packed, interactive session exploring a playful, creative process incorporating dynamic wet-into-wet watercolors and mixed media. We also looked at ways of presenting watercolors other than matted behind glass.

Vancouver Home and Design Show

Sandy Kay and I displayed our originals and prints at this event for the first time. The feedback was great, and we have lots of followup to do with designers and potential commission clients.

Demo: Acrylics Loose and Free

A group of about 50 people attended this free demo at Opus Framing and Art Supplies Granville Island. There was lots of interaction, and people left brimming with enthusiasm, ready to dive into their own artwork!  I do a few of these demos, on various topics, each year, so if you missed this one, no worries. Hopefully you can attend the next one.

Feu Vert: A Tribute to Claude Ranger

Two nights of music in tribute to an influential drummer who disappearred 10 years ago.

My artwork was featured on the poster for this event, and used in a video tribute to Claude Ranger.  I also donated a painting, entitled "Feu Vert", that was auctioned to raise money for Coast Mental Health in Vancouver.

A gala evening of music, art, food, and fun. Eight artists painted over the evening event, and our work was auctioned off at the end of the evening.
