Would you like to loosen up your approach to using reference photos?

Does working from a photograph feel more like work than creativity?

Are you inspired by poetry? Music? History? And want to incorporate them into your artwork?

Do you wonder why your paintings feel tight, or why they don't create the mood you're trying to convey?

Join me at my studio to work with reference material in new ways. You will come away with the ability to:

  • use photographs without being a slave to them
  • understand why a photograph is not 'truth'
  • transfer images from a photograph in the most effective way
  • utilize multiple reference sources for a single painting
  • be inspired by other references (poetry, music, etc)

and unique to this workshop:

  • tackle a specific challenge that you are experiencing working with a photograph or other reference material
  • personalized review and guidance for one of your own paintings (in progress or completed). Please bring the reference material and the original painting or a true-color print of the painting)
