Bees Dance Their Maps

Bees Dance Their Maps
CA$5,300.00
This painting is part of my “Mappae Mundi” series which is about the inner and outer worlds we inhabit.
Bees perform a ‘waggle dance’ to direct their hive to a good source of nectar, pollen or water. The angle of the bee’s body indicates direction relative to the sun. The duration of the dance indicates distance. The faster or more emphatic the waggle, the better the stuff at the destination. I love the idea that one can lead by dancing.
48” x 44.5”, oil paint and acrylic underpainting on 1.5” deep cradled wood panel, unframed. Edges are finished so the painting is ready to hang without framing.
